Vipava View
Studio apartments
From our house, situated on a hill on the edge of the village of Šempas, you can look out over the beautiful valley and enjoy the peace and nature.
Šempas is located in the Vipava Valley, close to the coast in western Slovenia. In 2025 we have renovated our dream house here and created two studio apartments.

From your apartment you can easily walk into the Natura2000 Trnovo area, but the village is also close by for a supermarket or a drink.
Take a bike ride through the valley, book a wine tasting at one of the many winegrowers or read a book in the orchard. Enjoy your favorite outdoor sport, take a walk and picnic in the adjacent nature reserve or indulge in culinary delights at one of the restaurants in the area. From a local inn to a star restaurant, the choice is yours. Combine it with a day at the beach, culture in a city or into the mountains? Everything is at your fingertips.

Good to know
- The studios are located on the side of our house, both with a private entrance and outdoor area. We live with our dog Sjaak on the other side of the house. Therefore pets are not allowed in the studios.
- There is a lot of interesting and fun to discover in our direct surroundings, and our location is also the perfect base to discover Slovenia and take a trip to Italy. That is why you can stay with us from 2 nights, but we actually recommend you to book longer! Check our tips.
- Outside of school holidays the studios are adult-only. However, you can book both studios with a family. Contact us for the possibilities.
- If you want to stay for a longer period of time or are looking for accommodation for a (business) group, please contact us for the options and a customized proposal.
Experiences of our guests
Over the past two weeks, we used one of the Viapava View apartments as a base for exploring Slovenia and the neighbouring part of Italy. And we were exceptionally pleased with it. Not only was the apartment very tasteful and very well-equipped with a beautiful view (worth mentioning separately: an excellent bed and a wonderful shower), but we also had incredibly helpful hosts! They were very helpful and gave us great tips. They even took us to the station and picked us up when we went on a trip to Venice. That was very nice. As for the location, the story on their website is completely accurate: you are close to Italy, and a lot of places there and in Slovenia are easy to reach. Furthermore, we rented the virtually new e-bikes (gravel bikes, I believe) a few times and received a customised route – taking into account our desired distance and experience. In Slovenia, by the way, you can have a bit more 'action' by going kayaking or paragliding. Wine tasting is also possible at various local wineries, and the food is excellent! We had delicious meals there, including fish, meat, and vegetarian options. Daphne and Wouter also had tips for that. And there are lots of castles... We also had a delicious lunch at one nearby... Well,... in short, it was a wonderful holiday, thanks in part to the hosts and the place. Thanks again!!
We spent three wonderful nights at Vipava View. Wouter and Daphne were excellent hosts; after a long travel day, they were able to point us in the right direction for some food and even offered to make us some if we preferred. We stayed in the balcony apartment, which offered lovely sunset views of the valley, and on clear days, the Dolomites. The fridge was stocked with a variety of items for breakfast, and plenty of coffee, which was a wonderful way to start our mornings. On top of this, the beds were comfortable and the rooms quiet. Both Daphne and Wouter were able to connect us with multiple locals they knew who allowed us to have unique experiences, and the village they live in is very charming. We highly recommend staying here as it is central to many things while offering the right amount of solitude.
In early September, we had the pleasure of staying for over a week in Daphne and Wouter's charming and truly beautiful apartments. It started off well with the smooth and hospitable communication beforehand, which made booking a breeze. Once in Slovenia, we enjoyed the comfortable, stylish apartments where a generous breakfast was waiting for us every day. It's also a perfect base for hiking, visiting cities, and visiting the beaches. Italy is just around the corner, but Slovenia itself also has culture, nature, and delicious food to offer. Don't miss the wine tasting at the neighboring property! Thanks to all the helpful tips from Daphne and Wouter, we didn't have to figure everything out ourselves, which was a real bonus for the far-too-short week we were there. Highly recommended!
In mid-September 2025, we stayed with Daphne and Wouter in the Vipava Valley. It was very charming, peaceful, clean, and even more beautiful than we had imagined. The rooms are spacious and fully equipped, including a charming terrace. Daphne and Wouter are very hospitable and had many tips for fun activities in the area, such as wine tasting, a charming dinner, and rafting! We would love to come back again and recommend our friends to book with Daphne and Wouter!
Upon arrival, we received a very warm welcome from Wouter, Daphne, and their dog Sjaak. They even prepared breakfast for us. The apartment was very stylish and modernly furnished. The balcony was perfect for enjoying the view. There's also a shared garden where you can completely relax among the fruit trees. They gave us many tips and great restaurant addresses. One particularly good recommendation is the winery of their friends in the village: Lepa Vida. This accommodation is the perfect base for day trips to Lubljana, the Italian/Slovenian coast, and the Postojna Caves. If we ever return to Slovenia, we will definitely be back!
What a beautiful place this is! The view over the valley is fantastic. Daphne and Wouter have created a dream place with great love and attention, where they live together with their sweet dog, Sjakie. They do everything they can to make you feel at home and pamper you. The four of us enjoyed both apartments. The apartments exude tranquility, are tastefully decorated, fully equipped, and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. The option of creating your own little spot in the orchard completes the holiday feeling. All the beautiful spots for cultural or nature excursions are relatively close by (within a maximum of 1.5 hours). Ljubljana is highly recommended, but also the Postojna Caves (around New Year's Eve, a magical tour that you simply must experience!), the immensely blue river, and Slovenia, we find magical. But we are also true Italy fans, and just fifteen minutes away, you can be sitting on a terrace in one of the charming squares of Gorizia. The Italian coast, Trieste, MiraMare Castle... We haven't seen it all yet. The vibrant Italian countryside, the tranquil Slovenia, and the wonderful apartments make us eager to return to this beautiful place with Daphne and Wouter!
Our two night stay in the balcony apartment was fabulous. Daphne was very warm and welcoming upon our arrival, taking time to show us around the newly completed apartment. The standard of the accommodation is excellent throughout and the owners have an obvious sense of style and attention to detail. Breakfast was provided for our stay which we really enjoyed. We should also mention our wine tasting at the nearby Lepa Vida vineyard. This was a great experience, made even more enjoyable as Daphne very kindly offered to collect us afterwards so that we could leave the car! We would definitely recommend visiting Daphne and Wouter's lovely apartments if planning a trip to this area.
